Specialization Course for Enviromental Activities

Diving Ippocampo has a plan that includes series of dives for monitoring the health of the artificial barrier for the repopulation and for the safeguard of the flora and the fauna of the seabed of the Agropoli coast.
This activity has the aim to reclaim the barrier in order to remove the many ropes, fishing lines, hooks, and nets entangled that, unfortunately, keep on damage the enviroment (we took and keep on taking pictures that bear witness to these damages and to our reclamation interventations).
The barrier is located from 15 to 30 m of depth, is about 12 m wide and is 1 mile long and has a seabed of Posidonia Seaweed, sand and rocks.
The realization of this project is strongly due to the will of Prof. Donato LAURIA, Enviroment Pathology Chair at the University of Napoli.

Specialization Course for Archeological Diving

The seabed of the area between Paestum and Agropoli, thanks to its historical and cultural importance, has a great number of archeological findings. During the 70's, Diving Ippocampo worked togheter with the organization named G.A.A. (Agropoli Archeological Group) for the rescue of a great number of ancient object found on the seabed. Diving Ippocampo worked for the taking and the preservation of each find, avoiding any damage or distortion, and used the methods and the equipment at the cutting edge in those years.
The great part of the findings rescued are preserved at the prefecture of Agropoli, waiting for the realization of the Antiquarium (Museum).
Diving Ippocampo continues this activity working togheter with the association Acropolis by Piero Cantalupo.

Wrecks of the landing of Americans at Agropoli and Paestum in 1943

The 9th of september 1943 at 3:30 a.m., General Mark Clark started the oparation Avalanche, the landing of the allied troups on the coast that goes from Paestum to Agropoli, with 463 warships, 70000 soldiers, hundred means for the landing, tanks, airplanes. It is a memorable page of the history, with its tragedies, like the ship named l'Alfiere that took 3 days to sink or the other means for landing that lay on the seabed in front of Agropoli and Paestum.
Nowdays, 60 years later, lots of those majestic wrecks still lay there.

Specialization Course for Diving Health Worker - Rescue

Why should every diver have a first aid training?
Because an accident can happen in a remote place and because "remote" is a relative concept, specially if an uncommon pathology arises or if something happens inparticular logistics. Do you think you need to be on an island 20000 km far away from civilization to be in a remote place?
For example: a case of Pdd on an island 10 miles away from the coast, in the night and with a bad weather; the diver that has Pdd denies the possibility of being affected, or a diving operator that doesn't want a "bad advertising" for his diving center doesn't want to recognize it; or the health worker doesn't recognise the pathology because of his ignorance.
All these situations could make any place become a remote place. With Pdd a lot of special problems arise: Pdd is a rare and unusual event, specially if you are not trained in a specific way. Pdd is frequently not recognized, underevalueted and treated in an improper way.
The fact is that information and training are very important since the beginning of the diving "career", at least as important as specialized and easily accessible facilities for advicing and assistance. It is strogly reccomended to first aid workers to call the D.A.N. (DIVERS ALERT NETWORK) or an Allarm Station for the organization of the rescue.
The basic information and training schould be considered on two levels:
1) a normal amateur diver
2) a professional diver and the forst aid workers

Teaching activity for children

Diving for children, it is like a new game, that at the beginning takes place in the pool and after brings them closer to the intricate sea world and all the beauty the live in it.
The NIXE, ROBBY e SEA LION courses help children from 9 to 11 to become familiar with water; with the HOLIDAY e BASIC DIVER, for children from 12 to 13, the game becomes discovery with a careful and responsible behaviour.

Delta Emergency

Delta Emergency is an Onlus Assotiation for civil protection and the protection of the enviroment.
Diving Ippocampo works togheter with Delta Emergency for rescue and recovering activities with its rubber dinghies and its equipment, useful when it is needed to reach woodlands or areas with mediterranean scrub on the coast, in case of fire or other natural disasters.
Diving Ippocampo helps Delta Emergency for the realization of special diving courses for militaries and firemen training.
